The Association of Accounting Technicians

The AAT - Association of Accounting Technicians has a minimum entry requirement of 2 or 3 GCSE’s.
Within this framework there are three stages: Foundation, Intermediate and Technician. Quite often on completing
technician stage members go on to further study.

The ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the largest professional
accountancy body in the world with over 131,500 members and over 362,000 students.
In the UK the ACCA is the second largest accountancy body in terms of membership and the largest in terms of
student numbers
ACCA membership gives wide professional mobility – it is recognised in most countries, enabling members to
work almost anywhere in the world.

The ATII - Chartered Institute of Taxation is the only professional body within the UK concerned
with taxation. It is a registered charity and membership is made up predominantly of people working in Practice
and the Inland Revenue (this is the main employing sector). Study and examinations are required before membership
is awarded.
