Arakis is an emerging speciality pharmaceutical company, with a commercial focus in rheumatology and oncology adjunctive therapy.  It possesses a unique research capability specialising in cytokine and receptor mediated mechanisms of disease.  The company identifies, develops and commercialises product opportunities based upon new clinical uses for known drugs, or known drug templates, termed Performance Enhanced Medicines (PEMs).  Arakis has four full development projects - three clinical and one preclinical - two exploratory developments and research programmes within the areas of pain, emesis and rheumatology.  These are all directed to areas of significant unmet medical need.

Arakis will primarily commercialise its pipeline through out-licensing.  However, the company intends to retain sales and marketing rights to those of its pipeline products within the areas of its commercial focus in key European territories.

Arakis has developed a unique research engine which sustains the company's pipeline.  Research is focused within the area of cytokine and receptor mediated mechanisms of disease.  The company has developed a research approach which identifies new uses for known drugs and known drug templates.  This approach significantly de-risks and accelerates the standard pharmaceutical R&D process.

Arakis efficiently manages development through a network of collaborators.  The primary goal of development is to test rapidly a product opportunity's proof-of-principle and then to move it swiftly to full regulatory development.
